Thai Ambassador to the UAE presided over the opening ceremony of the 1st  Thailand’s Medical Health and Wellness Road Show

            On 11 October 2010, H.E. Mr. Somchai Charanasomboon, Thai Ambassador to the UAE presided over the opening ceremony of the 1st  Thailand’s Medical Health and Wellness Road Show organized by Tourism Authority of Thailand , Dubai Office at Shangri-La Hotel, Abu Dhabi with closer cooperation of the Royal Thai Embassy.

            H.E. the Ambassador delivered his opening remarks by mentioning the objective of introducing hospitals and related business in Thailand to stimulate demand of UAE medical tourists especially from the government agencies and business enterprises that have tendency of referring their sick employees to receive medical treatment in Thailand. According to the latest statistics, Thailand receives over 1 million tourists seeking medical care and wellness treatment, accounting for 38% of the global market share.

            After the welcoming remarks of H.E. the Ambassador of Thailand, Dr. Surapong Ambhanwong, Chief Medical and International Business Officer of Phyathai 2 Hospital and adviser to the Thai Private Hospital Association presented the audience with medical products and services in Thailand culminating in the country’s success as Center of Healthcare Excellence of Asia. In addition, representatives from Phayathai 2 Hospital, Bangkok Hospital Pattaya,  Samitivej Srinakarin Hospital, and Medicare Resources Thailand were invited to introduce their establishments.                       

The function was attended by medical doctors and medical officers in Abu Dhabi, representatives from leading health insurance companies, travel agencies, and the media from various sources. On this occasion, table top meeting and business discussion were held.

In this connection, H.E. the Ambassador welcomed and hosted dinner in honour of        Dr. Surapong Ambhanwong at his residence on the preceding night.
